I confess, I bought this book because of the title. There were many times in my life when I desperately wished I had a mentor, or even a female guide. Instead, I was caught in the male-dominate legal world and had to succeed on my own stubbornness, tenacity, and sweat. Inside the pages of "Why Didn't Someone Tell Me" are nuggets of wisdom, shared by women who have been there. Savor these nuggets, because they are worth their weight. I commend the authors and contributors of this book, for sharing the hard moments of being a woman in a man's world. Women are collaborators, not competitors. The words in this book and the spirit of collaboration are waiting for you to embrace, embolden, and enliven your work, and your self.

I could tell within a few pages that this was going to be a book I wanted to savor instead of devour. I relate to every story in this book and some overwhelmingly so. It's comforting to know so many other women have gone through the same thing - and it's incredibly sad that we didn't tell each other this stuff before now. If only I'd had this book in my 20s - I'd have ruled the world. LOL Seriously, I'm so thankful to have it now. It's a book I'll be going back to again and again. Thank you to every woman who contributed to it, for baring your souls and for your honesty. Love you all!

The stories in this book are intensely personal. Some of these stories felt like I was looking in a mirror. It helps to see what other women have fought to overcome. Sometimes their path feels like one I can follow for myself. Other stories are pure inspiration. I recommend this book for any woman struggling to overcome a challenge and wanting greater success in life.
