I feel like in this week’s video, I really should have shown up with a sign that says, “Congratulations!” Like congratulations, you made it through this past year! This year more than any, buh-bye, we’re moving on to the next year. But sincerely, Happy New Year. I’m excited to start the new year with you.
If you’re like many people, oftentimes this time of year you put together this grand vision of where you want to be at the end of the year. And 100%, you have to have that vision; it’s the foundation of getting to where you want to go, what you want to achieve, and where you want to be.
In fact, I was recently working with one of my private clients and she was laughing, sharing with me how for the month ahead, she’d had a grand vision. She said to herself, “At the end of the month, I’m going to achieve this.” She closed her eyes, opened them, and 30 days later nothing had happened. It was because she only had that vision; she put nothing else in place.
So for you, this year in addition to your vision, you must put some sort of framework, some action plan into place. Know where you want to end, but you’ve got 365 days; don’t look at it and say, “Oh I’ve got all this time, it’s just going to happen.” Know by day 365, if this is where you want to be, what do you need to do right here on day one, what does that look like?
Grab a pencil, put it to paper, and start to map out and build that framework. Put together an action plan of how you’re going to get there.
Those plans are going to change, it’s going to happen. But you have to put something into place, you’ve got to get moving. That day one step, 100% you’ve got to commit to that, and know that the rest of it may change over time.
But this year, instead of starting with this grand vision, I am encouraging you to put an action plan into place that you begin on day one. Straight out the gate, instead of thinking, “I’ve got 365 days to go.” Day one, this year. Comment below, what are you committing to? What is your action plan, your step number one, day one going to look like?
